I didn't even know about this until someone else at the company notified me. The company is based in Virginia. As far as I know no harm has come to me as a result of this, but is there anything I should do/be prepared for or action I should take?

Sister was raped on a date, a "special jury" decided the case was not worth pursuing and we were told it is over

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 02:37 PM PST

A few months ago while on a date with a boy she met, my sister was raped. He wanted to have sex, she didnt. She said no, he said "you know you want it." When she came home, she was crying and told us everything. We know where he goes to college and we reported it to the police.

After a couple months of giving testimony, we were told that the case was presented to a "selected special jury" who decides what to pursue. They apparently decided it was not worth pursuing and our case has been dropped. On the phone we were told there was no next step and it was over. The town we live in (moved to Mississippi a year ago) is very preppy and spoiled. The person on the phone told us that if they pursued the case, it would go in the newspaper, and we think the publicity is one reason they want to ignore it.

What do we do? This isn't over. My sister is scared to leave the house. Justice has to be found one way or another.

Neighbour left dog at home while on holiday Part 2

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 02:56 AM PST

This is an update as promised around my breaking and entering. You can see the first section here https://redd.it/dz10jh Thanks all for your advice and support you made me feel better when I was alone.

I contacted the RSPCA and explained what happened (I came clean) honesty is the best policy. They confirmed that the owner and that address is on their system as being banned from owning animals.

They told me I was wrong to take the law into my hands. Even they don't have the power to break and enter they have to call in the police for the entry part.

However they have taken the dog into their care and advised the made contact with the owner. They pushed that had I not acted in the way I did the owner would be in deeper water as the dog could have potentially starved/died.

For now there hasn't been any action against me but let's hope this guy doesn't keep any more pets when he Is banned from doing so.

Told I can't do my job because of my race - options? (WI)

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 11:49 AM PST

Throwaway account. I am an artist and I work for a non-profit organization ran by a city agency in Wisconsin. My job is to teach community members different ways to make art, and give them access to spaces where the can make things. Although I teach several different types of art (oils, portraits, graphics, etc) my expertise is in creating murals and graffiti ; I've been working with this organization for 10 years and been doing murals for almost 20. I have a background in both education and art, and a degree in art - which helped me get this job. I have also won several awards for my work, and been recognized/published on a national scale. Other people in the organization joke that I am overqualified to be here.

My supervisor at the organization and I have never seen eye to eye. He actively dismisses my skill set, ideas and input for our programs and often insults me on a personal level. My mechanism to cope with this has always been to just keep my head down, do my work, and do the best I can. Although my supervisor has never told me I've done a good job or thanked me, his supervisors and other members of leadership often tell me how great of a job I do and how much they appreciate it.

Early this year, a second person was hired to teach other art styles - this person has no experience, education, published work or anything. When I asked why we would bring this person on board without them having any knowledge or experience, I was told "They are cool". A month after they were hired I caught the new person watching porn in public, in the workplace. When I told my supervisor, I was told I shouldn't be snooping and I was lucky no one was calling HR on me. Soon after, people began to complain that the new person didn't know how to teach what he was hired to teach - so my supervisor hired an outside artist as a temp to teach the new guy how to do what he was hired to do. I said nothing and kept my head down.

Last week I learned that the new person was working with a group to make a mural - the thing I do and have won awards for. I had no idea this was even happening. I also heard that they were struggling, because the new person had no idea what he was doing. I told my supervisor I was more than happy to help with the program and get them set up to make a cool mural.

The supervisor flat out said, "No, that project is with black kids. You're white. We should have a black person working with them." I was shook. I work with communities of color all the time, with great success for the last 10 years. Please don't misunderstand me - representation is super important, as is equity. I'm not saying they are not. However, being told I can't do the job I was hired to do and have been doing for years because I'm white feels like it's not legal or moral.

Friends have suggested I talk to HR, but previous complaints about this supervisors behavior have gone unchecked. I'm posting here to see if I should speak to a lawyer or HR - what do you think?

My cousin (an ilegal immigrant) may have abandoned her toddler at my house.

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 02:03 PM PST

    This is a throwaway account.

I (34F) am from Honduras and I lived there until I was 17 years old. I came to America because I enrolled in an American University and I ended up staying here because I got a job offer, and I finally became a citizen when I was 27 years old (in 2012).

So, this April a cousin from my dad's side contacted me via facebook. She told me she was coming to Florida and she wanted to know if she could stay at my house for a few days while she found a job and place to stay. I almost said no, I haven't seen this cousin since my dad's funeral in 1998 and it would feel like letting a stranger sleep in my house. Besides my house is super tiny, one bedroom, one bathroom, kitchen and living room. It's barely big enough for me to live alone. The cherry on top was that it was implied she was coming here illegally (Her actual words were "por vereda" which everyone knows it means illegally).

I ended up saying yes because I thought it would be no harm for her to stay at my house a couple of days and I would feel guilty if she ended up sleeping on the streets.

When she showed up in my house she was with her 11 months old baby. I was baffled because she never mentioned a baby, but whatever, I'm good with kids and she is only supposed to stay for a few days, a couple of weeks top.

She ended up staying for months, and she never seem to get a job. The only two reasons why I didn't kick her out sooner were because I would feel bad for the baby and because even though she never even tried to get a job, at least she voluntarily did all the houseshores. And I'm super lazy, so I was comfortable with someone else doing the houseshores.

The thing is, even though she did all the house shores, there is a limit, and she has been here for six months and she is not even trying to get a job. So I talked to her a couple of weeks ago and I told her that she needed to move out before Dec 1st. So, this friday (Nov22, 2019) she send me a super long text while I was at work saying she was moving out with her boyfriend (I didn't even know she had a boyfriend) and that she was leaving her daughther (now 17 months old) with me because I am a citizen and I have a job and I would do a better job taking care of her. I tried calling her but she didn't pick up her phone.

I though it was some sort of joke, but when I came home I found her daughther alone in the house. Yes, she left a 17 months old alone in the house for a few hours. I waited for her to come back for her daughter but it's been three days and she is not picking up her phone, she deleted her facebook account and she doesn't seem to be coming back.

And now I'm stuck with a baby that is not mine that was brought here illegally and I don't know what to do.

I thought about calling the police, but since the baby is here illegally and I had my cousin here for six months despite knowing she didn't had papers I'm afraid I'm going to get in troubles. But I also don't know what will happen to the girl if I call the police, I'm fond of the girl and I don't know what is going to happen to her.

    Should I call the police?

    What should I do?

    Am I in troubles?

TX. Mother received 7 missed calls, and one VM trying to contact me about my private pregnancy. Legally what can I do? Furious.

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 07:28 PM PST

20,F. Me and my mother are on the same insurance policy, three weeks ago I went into my doctors office to refill my annual birth control, and found out I was indeed pregnant. I paid out of pocket for this (they don't offer to cover it anyway), and this was private information. I recently terminated via medical pill, for health reasons. again, privately and out of my own pocket and made it clear this was not for anyone else to know.

The voice message starts off saying they are form our insurance and are looking for me because they want to be there for me during this important time. And they leave a callback number which when called ends up being from another insurance company in TX. When called it asks for the number they called (my MOTHERS) and the name of the person they were trying to reach. it goes on about saying they can help with my PREGNANCY and wants to ask a few questions regarding my PREGNANCY. My mother can easily do the same form her phone (if she hasn't already) How do I legally approach this for responsibility??

I have called my insurance and they said it was just a "robo call" and that it has nothing to do with my pregnancy and that they would have no way to know that information. (FALSE, After calling the number they left back..)

I'm so angry and in tears, I want whoever is responsible for this to be held so, but I don't even know where to start or what I can do. Someone please help me!

My youngest daughter was sexually assaulted while in her mothers care. What are my options for custody and what do I do next? TX

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 06:22 PM PST

My youngest daughter (almost 2) was sexually assaulted. I picked them (my oldest daughter as well) up Friday for my holiday visit and I noticed my youngest daughter was terrified of baths. As soon as I turned the water on she immediately started screaming and grabbing her privates. She screamed the entire time I gave her a shower and only calmed down about 20 minutes after her shower.

She did this Saturday and Sunday as well, so this morning I dropped my oldest daughter off with a babysitter and took my youngest to the ER. We were there until 5 taking tests. They preformed a SANE Exam and determined sexual assault. A police report was immediately filed, and CPS has been informed as well and are probably launching an investigation soon.

Now I personally believe it's my baby mommas boyfriend, I have no hard proof that it's him. On Sunday I'm supposed to give them back via custody court order so I'm wondering if I can file for emergency custody with CPS, or how I'd do that in the first place, and if successful I need to know how I can have child support stopped so I can use that money towards my girls.

I'm sorry for the book, I'm just kinda dazed from this experience and after being seething all day it takes its toll. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My home is being foreclosed and it's my bank's fault.

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 11:24 AM PST

    Throwaway account.

We live just south of Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Recently my wife and I have received a letter in the mail telling us that our house is going up for sale on December 3rd due to failure to make payments. The original loan was sold to a new company and we have been making payments to this new company for 6 months. However, we received a letter telling us that we were late on our first month's pay, and thus our home will be foreclosed and sold. We had 10 days to respond to the letter before the foreclosure process began; unfortunately, we didn't see it in time. So as soon as we opened it, we called the loan company that sent us the letter and have the bank statements to prove the money has been coming out and going to their account.

They eventually 'found' the payment (presumably the money went into another account?), but said it could take a week to 10 days to stop everything. This is concerning because the latest timeline would put it past the sell date (December 3). We are still receiving letters from random people and companies about saving our house and recently received a statement from the loan company saying we were still past due. I'm just curious about what will happen if it isn't stopped by December 3, 2019, considering the loan company had the money the whole time.

My professor didn’t show up to my final exam that I had to take early due to military obligations, then failed me for the class. I am back from my duties and she won’t let me take the exam. Help?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 07:44 PM PST

TL:DR is pretty much same as the title.

Okay so I apologize ahead of time as this might be a little long, but there is quite a bit of context for this. I won't be using any names or identifiers for obvious reasons.

So I'm currently a student at university pursuing my Bachelors degree. It's a smaller college in the eastern part of the state, but it's my dad's alma mater and I get a fair amount of scholarships which is great. (This is kinda important for later.)

I was put into a sociology gen ed course during the spring semester and I loved the class. The professor was awesome, a retired police officer who took up teaching and is trying to get her doctorate at a different university on the other side of the state.

I enlisted into the Army National Guard back in February and was given a ship date for basic training at the end of April. This happened to be roughly 3 weeks before the final exams. I coordinated with my veteran's affairs representative and made sure all of my professors knew I would be leaving early, and that I would need to take my tests ahead of time. This professor was laid back, and agreed to let me test early and set a date and time.

Well, said date comes around and I go to take the final... and she didn't show. I came to her the next class session and she said she would just email me the test and I could submit it that way. I sent her an email a few days later to see when she would be sending it to me and never got a response. Sent a follow up to that email, no response. Sent a third email saying that my ship date was coming up in a few days and I still really needed to test. Again, no response. At this point, I couldn't do anything as I had to ship, so I left for basic combat training.

During training, you have almost 0 contact with the outside world, aside from letters. The environment is pretty stressful on its own. About halfway through the 9 week training, I get a letter from my father - it was my report card; she had failed me for the class. I had a B in that class up until I left and only ever missed class with an excuse. I was appalled. I coordinated with one of my drill sergeants who just so happened to be taking college courses while being on active duty, and he let me have my phone for a short time to call the university. I spoke to the department head and explained the situation, and they granted me an "incomplete" grade and told me I could take the exam when I returned. This conversation was around May.

Fast forward a few months to mid September and I had completed all of my training successfully. (Yay!) I returned to school almost a month late, but had worked out an agreement with my professors for missed work. All of this was made aware to the university. Upon my return, I found out that my GPA had dropped low enough to cause me to lose my scholarships because of that one class. I immediately reached out to my professor to try and take the test, but again got no response. Sadly the previous VA rep had moved schools, so I had to explain everything to the new guy who was more than happy to help.

My boyfriend happened to be taking her classes and let me know her office hours, and so I stopped by but she was never there. I eventually had to go in and confront her face to face after one of her classes. I told her that all I needed to do was take the test, but I just needed to know the topic of the test and asked for a week to study in preparation. (I had rented the textbook and had to return it so I no longer had it.) She told me that it wasn't her responsibility to inform me of what the test was on, and I told her that it was her responsibility to give me the test when she agreed on originally but because she never did, we were in this situation. Both of us were getting frustrated and she wasn't budging so I left.

I also ran it by one of my military science professors who has been a huge mentor for me throughout college so far. He told me to compile all physical evidence I had of communications between her and I, and between the department and the VA rep. I did all of this, printed out copies, and even had me write a transcript of the conversation we had in her classroom and organized everything by date. He told me he was going to run it up the chain of command and to the head of leadership for the program and see if we could take it to the Dean of Students.

It has since sat on the desk of head professor of the program, and I haven't heard of any improvement despite asking about it. It's been over 8 months since I was originally scheduled to take the exam, and I have done everything I was supposed to as a student and still the situation has not been resolved. I'm honestly at a loss. What should I do?

Edit: For clarification, I go to university in the US

Family hired private detective to find me after I received a donated kidney.

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 02:55 PM PST

I'm in the United States, however I'm nervous to disclose the state narrowing a search to find me. If unwarranted I can disclose the state.

I was the recipient of a kidney and I declined to ever know who gave it to me and I also noted that I didn't want any kind of messages from the family. I appreciate the kidney but am not religious and believe everyone should be a donor and it shouldn't be such a big deal.

Last year the family of the donor pretty much showed up at my doorstep.

They honestly aren't doing anything that I would call "harassment" just occasional texts (I never gave them my number) inviting me to holidays and some emails with the mother really wanting to spend time with me because part of her daughter is inside me. I politely decline and reinstate my personal beliefs or ignore (depending on the day)

What I would like to know is if I have any legal recourse in how the private detective got this information. And I am curious if it is possible to force them to stop communicating with me.

Can spouse hold up divorce over last name? (Indiana)

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 08:42 AM PST

We were married in early 2015. At the time he expressed absolutely no opinion either way on whether I'd take his last name but did listen to my reasons why I wanted to. Basically, I am not attached to my birth surname and it's hard for other people to spell or pronounce. He had a much more "normal" name.

I told him in March that I wanted a divorce. As he had no job, I suggested staying married so that he could stay on my insurance until he had a job. He moved out in June. He now has a job so I filed initial paperwork last week. As we've agreed on all property division and have no children, I did it myself by filling out forms provided by the legal system. I did not check the box on the paperwork asking for my maiden name to be restored.

Honestly, name changes are a pain. I still prefer my new last name to my original one for the same reasons I changed it in the first place. We are not at all involved in each other's lives and may possibly never so much as see or hear about each other again once this is finalized. And in the past 8 months he has not mentioned my last name at all.

This is apparently an issue, now. He received the paperwork over the weekend and told me that he refuses to allow me to keep his last name. Can he hold up the divorce over that? If he disputes the name change, what would be next steps? What would happen if he just refuses to sign the paperwork?

AZ united refusing to pay because stepdad was coded as a woman

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 03:02 PM PST

My step dad has prostate cancer and he needed a dexa scan. He went to radiology limited and they had him sign a waiver saying if United won't pay my parents have to pay out of pocket. My parents get a bill and my mom calls and asks why and it turns out they coded him as a woman, my mom argues and says that's ridiculous because he is obviously a man. The woman says they refuse to change their coding procedures. My mom then calls united and they initially said they would fine radiology limited for using the wrong codes but it ends with them changing their minds and them saying it's just how they do things.

So my parents are now being charged and not covered for the procedure because my stepdad with prostate cancer was medically coded as a woman. Is this legal? Do they have any recourse?

Is it legal to require 100% United Way donation participation from employees in exchange for days off? The company I work for gives the days between Christmas and New Year's off (paid) as a "reward" for 100% participation.

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 04:16 AM PST

This feels like extortion to me and it's especially wrong bc we're all already woefully underpaid (even for a non-profit). Filling out the form and saying "no donation" does not count as participation as I've learned it does in other companies. Also, we have to hit a certain amount to get the days off. If we don't reach that amount, we have to fundraise (again off the employees) all year until a certain deadline. Is this illegal? Or does it simply fall under crappy-but-legal?

I received an unaddressed letter in my mailbox from a social worker, saying that I need to call her to schedule a home visit.

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 02:10 PM PST

The letter does not have a recipients name on it, but it does have my state's (CT) seal on it. The envelope was also unsealed.

I don't know why a social worker would need to meet with me in my home. I share an apartment with my brother, but neither of us have any clue what it's about.

What is my legal obligation to call this person back? I'll admit, I am a little worried about this, but ultimately my name isn't on it so I don't think I should be too concerned.

Landlord banned use of included fireplace.

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 09:54 AM PST

I have been renting my apartment since 2015. My apartment came with a working wood burning fireplace which is one of the reasons I chose to live here. On November 22nd tenants were informed that they could no longer use their fireplaces due to safety concerns. I emailed the property manager asking what my rent deduction would be since I no longer have access to the amenity. They responded that there is "nothing regarding a working fireplace in your lease agreement, therefore there is not an amenity charge related to your rental rate." I'm in North Dakota. Are there any options for me here?

EDIT: More info: there have been two notice.

The first one says; "May 1st Based on the findings of the recent inspections of the fireplaces at (name), we have been advised to cease wood burning in the fireplaces effective immediately. At this time it is undecided what will be done with the fireplaces but we will share updates as soon as we are able."

The second one says: "Important notice do not use fireplace. November 22nd 2019. This notice will serve as a reminder that the fireplaces in your homes are non-operational and cannot be used. Please feel free to contact us with any questions. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation."

I have not heard any reasonings behind why.

My landlord is trying to make me clean sewage. Help.

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 03:31 PM PST

Ok so I live in Ohio. I have a 2 bedroom apartment with my boyfriend. It's our first "real" place outside of our parents house. We have an apartment also upstairs that's a 1 bed. (Twin plex/duplex?). We moved in almost exactly a year ago.

When we first moved in (first few weeks?) our basement flooded pretty bad. At first we thought it was just water (it was dark down there) we very quickly realized it was literal sewage. We called the landlord and he had someone come out and unclog whatever and he told us we were responsible for the cleanup. We were disgusted but we did it and haven't had an issue since

Over this past weekend it happened again (thankfully not as bad as last time tho) but still fucking disgusting. Since we knew we had to clean last time, we went straight to work and literally scraped shit off my floor. It smelled horrible. We were gagging the whole time. Called landlord and told him about it and someone will be out Wednesday. (We alerted him on Sunday, that's 4 days???)

We can't really flush the toilet or more sewage bubbles up from the drains. Can't do laundry. Have to use minimal water.

I told someone at work to find out it may possibly be illegal that he made me clean it? Now granted the second time around I called him after but I'm sure he still would have told me to clean it had I called first.

What recourse do I have? Is that illegal? I'm hearing he should have paid for me and my boyfriend and 2 cats to stay at a hotel bc it can make us sick. Let alone not having proper cleaning gear and breathing in the fumes while cleaning???

Please help. I don't have renters insurance. I like my apartment. I live directly across the street from my grandparents and a few streets up from my mom and my best friend. I know the correct answer is to probably move but tbh I don't want to.

Accused of being drunk on duty by a colleague I filed an HR complaint about in April for threatening workplace violence. Federal law enforcement he called to the work place cleared me.

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 09:01 AM PST

So my coworker accused me of being drunk on the job. I work for a contracting company that works for the federal government.

He told our country manager I was drunk so he (my manager) saw me talking to another country manager in close proximity. My manager came to speak to me and conferred with the other manager that I was not intoxicated nor did I smell like alcohol.

My manager told the complainant he smelled no odor from me nor did the other manager.

The guy who filed against me then took it to our customer and called federal law enforcement officers into my place of duty to test me. I took field sobriety tests and passed. Two federal agents reported I was not intoxicated nor did I smell like alcohol.

I self-reported to the clinic and breathalyzers were not available on post. But the doctor asked about drinking and did the math stating in an official report I was never intoxicated on duty.

The doctor told me to establish a timeline from my last drink and get colleagues to report on official email that I was not drunk on duty. I have 7 emails on official government email backing me up and I have 8 people willing to stand by the accusations of a hostile work environment and being targeted.

This person is on a 1 year probation for earlier complaints against him and threatening work place violence.

Should I leave it to my company to handle or go direct to diplomatic HR?

Acquaintance who was house sitting took my car without permission and caused damage, am I responsible for it? [IL]

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 03:10 PM PST

Hi All, I'm seeking advice and knowledge

Earlier this year I allowed an Acquaintance stay at my apartment while I was out of town on business, and they took my car without my permission while intoxicated and crashed into another car. My insurance did not cover the damage to the other car, as the drive did not have permission to drive the car.

I just now got a call from a company claiming to represent the other driver's insurance company (I think they are actually debt collectors) and claim that either the driver of the car (the person without the permission) or I am responsible with paying the damages back.

Am I actually responsible for this? I never filed a stolen car report, as by the time I was back in town, and knew what had happened the police already had possession of my car (and when I asked the officer if I need to report it stolen I was laughed at, because they already had it). The company that called me today said that if the driver or I didn't pay for the damages then they would report all of us to "the state" and our car's tabs and our licenses would be suspended for allowing an uninsured driver drive my car.

Is this actually the way it is? The driver called the company and said that they will be taking full responsibility, but the company also wants me to sign a document that says if the driver cannot pay the payment plan, then I will be responsible for it in their stead.

Please, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Mother won't give me my belongings after I got taken out of her custody (AZ)

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 08:02 AM PST

    Arizona, United States.

Basically as the title says. I'm 16, and I was taken out of my mom's custody about a month ago. I now live in a group home. I was slowly given some of my belongings over the course of this month, but I've only received less than half of it in total. My mom refuses to let DCS into her home anymore to get my belongings. Apparently, my caseworker says they can't do anymore than ask. I'm missing essentials, and I don't have the money to buy it back. I've purchased several items myself that she isn't giving me. With winter approaching, I've had to have friends give me their hoodies and such because I've gone to school freezing and not dressed for the weather. The group home can't give me clothes, since I have to wait for my clothing allowance in a month. But obviously, I want my own clothes. I'm getting extremely frustrated. Is there anything I can do to get my mom to hand over my stuff? I'm not speaking to my mother, and last time I asked for my things, she blew up in my face and threatened me.

Online nursery advertised sale on items on their website, it ended up being a crowdsourcing donation situation to help expand their business with a preorder on the plants as a reward. Upon further review, this nursery is not even registered with the state they are located in. What can I do?

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 10:54 AM PST

I am located in Bend, Oregon/Boise, Idaho and I purchased two plants as a preorder donation through a nursery called EdenCPS. They advertised this as a sale and even went as far as to tell people to set their alarms to get in quick - making us think there were a select number of items available. Reading through the site I see they won't be available until next June which was fine for me because I don't mind preordering plants to send to me in better weather conditions. Then at the very end it says "All donation packages offer some type of reward - we are NOT offering equity or any kind of financial return." People asked about this and wondered if it meant that they didn't meet their goal that no one would get the plants that they thought they bought. The site was updated to include "PLEASE NOTE - We guarantee to fulfill all rewards for the Grow Eden Project or provide a 100% refund. If we do not reach our minimum funding level, we will STILL be providing all rewards as planned. Again, if we're unable to fulfill our obligations for any reason, you will get a complete refund." I was trusting of this and went through with my donation/purchases. After that I find out that they are notorious for pushing back the dates of when the plants arrive so you can no longer dispute with your bank or PayPal because too much time has passed. I also found out that they usually send out dying plants that are packaged to the point of breaking to pieces on arrival. The big kicker is that someone looked into it and asked the Negar Edwards Clemson University Nursery Programs Coordinator Department and EdenCPS is not a registed nursery in the state of South Carolina where they are located. Do I have legal ground to even dispute the purchase and reverse it? Should I seek legal counsel about this? EdenCPS has stopped communicating with everyone who purchased who are now concerned.

[NC] Public park has sign stating fenced field is for use by public. Rec department states it is for use by local soccer team only.

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 01:00 PM PST

I was told to leave the field this past weekend by a couple people who are affiliated with this soccer team and left when they threatened to call the police even though the sign that's posted on the field states it is for use by the public in a first come first serve capacity. When I contacted the Recreation Department, the point person stated that is incorrect and it is only to be used by the soccer team.

Does official city government posting supersede what this government official says? I tried looking up NC state law, but couldn't find anything lucid on this topic.

Storage facility changed lock - unit fully paid - they were just curious what was inside. Preventing access to contents.

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 05:10 AM PST

New Jersey - Storage unit leased to an llc,

Owner deceased, estate admin and employees of the deceased's llc have been ensuring unit is paid monthly while sorting contents.

-Nov 17 unit lock changed discovered

-Nov 21 Facility management contacted and offered "unit was improperly secured" ...."so we replaced the lock and mailed the key to the address on file"

-No key has been received to date.

    Questions:

    1. Is it legal to cut a lock based on it being a combination lock ? Is that a contract detail that would even be legal (seems the type of lock would be up to the customer to determine what is best for their needs)

    2. What are the best ways to proceed to gain access

    3. Does customer have a right to a credit for time access was improperly prevented ?

    • 4. Any grounds for a civil suit?

Landlord is selling house we’ve rented for 14 years in FL, but signed a lease-to-own contract.

    Posted: 25 Nov 2019 03:51 PM PST

We have been in this house for over 14 years and we're just notified three days before Thanksgiving that the landlord is selling the property.

    On the contract, it says:

    Deposit/receipt to buy/rent this property.

It says it all over the place, but no terms were set.

Does any of the rent go toward the price of the house it we were to buy the property?
